About this event:

Midland Actors Theatre and Birmingham City University present

DOROTHY HEATHCOTE NOW

An International Conference to mark the 10th anniversary of Dorothy’s death

8-10 OCTOBER 2021

Dorothy Heathcote was ahead of her time. Her work continues to provide models, inspiration, and challenges. Her vision of a revolution in the way we think about education seems even more urgent now than ever.

This conference will combine talks and practical workshops. It will look at the different methods she created – process drama, Mantle of the Expert, Commission Model and Rolling Role – and the connections between them.

HOW IT WILL WORK

ON 8 OCTOBER, there will be a one-day online event. There will be a range of speakers including Cecily O'Neill and Brian Edmiston, discussing different aspects of Dorothy's work.

ON 9-10 OCTOBER, there will be a two-day, in-person event at a venue in Birmingham, UK. There will be workshops and talks led by Cecily O'Neill, Luke Abbott, Brian Edmiston, Tim Taylor and more.

(Places for the in-person event are limited. We will take steps to ensure it is covid-safe.)

You have two choices for the event:

1. BOOK FOR THE ONLINE EVENT ONLY (8 October)

You can book for the online event only (8 October) £25.

2. BOOK FOR ALL THREE DAYS (8-10 October)

You can book to take part in all three days of the event (8-10 October) - so this covers both the online event, and the in-person event  £140.

The fee includes access to the online event (8 October), and registration and catering for the two-day event (9-10 October). It does not cover accommodation costs; but we can help you find accommodation in Birmingham.
