New reports on the use of moe in the classroom
This month sees the publication of three major reports with mantle-of-the-expert at the centre of the research they describe. The first is Prof. Brian Edmiston’s ‘Mountains, Ships and Time Machines’, a Creative Partnerships funded research project at Wearhead Primary School, County Durham.
In his report, Brian describes working with London architect, Angus Morrogh-Ryan, moe consultant, Tim Taylor and the students of Wearhead Primary School, using mantle-of-the-expert to explore how dramatic inquiry can create spaces for creativity and learning in the classroom and beyond.
The second report is by Prof. Shelby Wolf, titled, ‘From the ‘Mantle’ to Expertise’, which describes the last year of a four year Creative Partnerships project between Bexhill Primary School in Sunderland and County Durham’s Theatre Cap-a-Pie.
In her report Shelby describes the dramatic change in two teachers from Bexhill, Linda Nesbitt and Lesley Watson, as they moved into the final phase of the project (separating creative practitioners and teachers, the ultimate goal of Creative Partnerships) and began to use of mantle-of-the-expert to transform their classrooms.
In the third report, class-teacher and researcher, Jenny Lewis (Recreation Road Infant School, Norwich), discusses her own class-based action-research project into the application of Mary James’ third generation assessment model: In particular, she explorers the implications and challenges of evaluating and recording learning and development in dynamic mantle-of-the-expert communities of dramatic-inquiry.
All three reports can be found on the mantleoftheexpert.com ‘Articles’ page.
