Heathcote Archive
The Heathcote Archive was originally constructed, organised and indexed by Dr Sandra Hesten after Professor Heathcote’s retirment from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 1986.
It contains over 2000 items - documentary, audio and video - pertaining to the work of Dorothy Heathcote and her many students. Each item is catalogued in an electronic keyword index.
The archive was originally housed at Lancaster University but was later moved to Manchester Metropolitan University were it is now under the stewardship of John Rainer.
In partnership with MMU, mantleoftheexpert.com has started the lengthy process of digitising the most significant items in the archive, including many of the Diplomas, B.Phils, MAs and PhD theses written by Professor Heathcote’s students, as well as video material- edited and unedited- of her own teaching, as well as articles and papers produced by her students and herself.
We will be adding this material from the archive to mantleoftheexpert.com as it is digitised. Eventually the archive will have its own section with links directly to video, audio and text resources from Professor Heathcote and her students.
All material appearing on mantleoftheexpert.com originating from the Heathcote Archive will include its ID code. This code uses the conventions of two letter followed by three numbers, for example - AS028, to identify it as a resource in the archive. These codes are the ones used in the Hesten Index- http://www.partnership.mmu.ac.uk/drama/archive.html This index will soon be available on mantleoftheexpert.com.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information on the Heathcote Archive and the digitisation project.
