Feedback from the Malvern Mantle of the Expert Conference

The following evaluations came from teachers, school leaders and educators attending the June 19th, 2009 conference in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Inspired – I now have a greater understanding. Thanks

Wow! So very exciting, so very challenging, I can’t wait!

A really inspiring day. Good to hear different ideas and ways of delivering MoE. Well done Richard

Informative, instructive, ideal situation, imaginative inputs.

So much food for thought…I am going to consider how to include MoE into our English modules on BA QTS & QTS primary courses

An exciting and inspirational approach to teaching and learning. One that I certainly would like to become involved in. Thank you for a great day

Thank goodness children will be able to recognise the word imagination without looking it up in a dictionary

Quality meaningful learning and with children taking responsibility – sounds good

More developed understanding of how MoE works and the powerful positive effects it can have on learning

Thank you for an excellent day. Very interesting and informative – answered lots of my questions especially in Tim Taylor’s session

Thank you for making the day so practical so we could experience mantle. (From someone who had not seen it before)

A way of meeting the needs of the child. That they are the centre

Good to see and hear people prepared to take risks. Would now like to see Mantle in action and talk through practical processes

Very interesting talks. Tim’s session was helpful. Also session D (DH)was helpful being able to take part.

A challenge – but a possible challenge! Thanks

Good – thankyou. Needed less role play and more on the teacher to teacher information

I am fired up ! Excellent day – a real picture of a way forward that has been consolidated by real teachers and long standing trainers successfully offsteded.

Tracking processes across the school for skills/processes and content

It was a really useful day. Thank you. An enormous treat to meet Dorothy who has been my hero for many years

I feel it was really beneficial to the MoE in action when role played in workshop B (HH/SB). Lots of my questions were answered by experienced practitioners. Looking forward to getting started

I was really pleased to experience chamber drama as a method to use. I feel this will be very good to use with Special Needs children in my school. I am looking forward to changing the curriculum

My head is buzzing! Found workshops E (Luke) and B (two staff from Grimley and Holt) very interesting and inspiring. Now need to share this back at achool with staff and get started.

FAB! like to see other speakers that I missed out on today and one hour workshops not long enough. Huge thanks. Wonderful grub.

Ideas for ways in from Luke. The difference between enquiring and Mantle from Dorothy

A very inspiring day- looking forward to using MoE

The workshops were particularly helpful in filling the gaps in understanding MoE

Inspiring and informative which supports my knowledge

I really valued the session with Tim Taylor who gave excellent advice on how to get started. I really need to give it a go with my class

Re-ignited enthusiasm- Thankyou

Thankyou – lots of “food for thought” – a good starting point

Clarity came to the fore as the day unfolded – excellent way forward – thankyou

Totally inspired to have a go

Looking forward to trying it in school

I have a clearer understanding of how to teach the importance of viewpoint

Great to see a method of planning through steps. We were given a very clear description of how to follow these steps

Thoroughly enjoyed this creative day. It has given me a great deal to think about and has helped give me ideas for a way forward. Tim Taylor’s workshop was very practical and helpful – thankyou

Thanks Richard for organising such an informative day. I have been able to clarify what MoE looks like in school and can now take it back to share the super ideas with my staff at school

One of the ways to make learning memorable, vibrant and exciting! Thankyou for a thought provoking day!

An enlightening day with a great deal of food for thought

Thanks for organising the event and leading a much needed focus on learning and curriculum amongst all the other stuff

Giving children a voice, giving them creative and expressive opportunities to ask questions and find solutions can only be good. Thank you for an interesting day

Thank-you for a superb day. I am feeling inspired and looking forward to learning more about this pedagogy

Excellent workshop from Tim Taylor – thankyou

Tim Taylor gave an excellent informative workshop. Just made sense – exactly what I needed! Thankyou

Really enjoyable day but felt that the Holt and Grimley version of Mantle of the Expert and Dorothy Heathcote’s version were at odds to each other. I now feel confused. Hopefully this will be helped by a trip to your school. Thankyou

Inspiring day. Thankyou for putting the conference together. It has been very worthwhile coming as a whole staff

Really interesting day. Very enlightening – certainly feel I am beginning to ‘get it’.
