Training Routes
If you are interested in using mantle of the expert either as an individual, a school or a wider network, or if you are planning an event, then we can offer specifically designed training and support:
- Conferences: large events of 100+ people
- Cluster events: for school networks of less than 100 people
- Development projects planned for a series of days including demonstration lessons, training workshops & ongoing support
- Individual training days – specifically designed
- Workshops for designing a mantle of the expert inquiry
- Courses for multiple schools
- One-to-one mentoring and support
- Weekend residential training
- Study and professional development for practitioners interested in becoming mantle of the expert qualified trainers.
Examples of recent courses and events:
- A three-year programme developing mantle of the expert with a network of schools in Norwich funded as a PLN. Involved a number of training days, demonstration lessons and coaching.
- A large project of 20 schools in Cambridgeshire. Programme consisted of 4 training days and a series of networked demonstration and coaching sessions.
- A Creative Partnership funded school in County Durham. Support began with a number of demonstration days in school and then a series of two-day training workshops.
- A large primary school in Newcastle. Project planned for three terms, involving demonstration and planning-support sessions, training in inquiry and the use of drama conventions and coaching in the development of mantle of the expert.
- A large cluster of schools Hertfordshire. One-day conference, keynote speaker on moe and two two-hour workshops.
- Residential training weekend at Ringsfield Hall, beginning Friday finishing Sunday lunchtime.
- A network of schools in Suffolk. Programme involving demonstration and training and AST support.
- A one-day INSET day for a school in London. Introduction to mantle of the expert and a planning workshop.
- An ‘immersive’ one-day workshop in Jiangsu, China for regional educators.

Prices for school support vary according to the type of programme you are looking to develop.
As you know Mantle of the Expert is a complex approach and takes time to develop and embed within a school. We recommend a staged approach over two or three years, accessing a range of different training and support. If possible it is more cost effective and sustainable if you network with a cluster of local interested schools.
A one day introduction would cost between £500 – £750 (plus travel & accommodation) for one trainer. If there were more than 30+ delegates then there might be the need for a further trainer.
Coaching/mentoring/demonstration days would be at the daily rate, although could be done in different (more cost effective ways) if done as part of a cluster programme.
Residential training weekends are the most effective training routes for small groups or individuals. The price is £250 per person inclusive. They run from Friday evening until Sunday lunchtime. Details can be found on the website: http://www.creative-corner.co.uk/ringsfieldhall/
