Key Stage 1

Undersea Savers

There is a Minke whale with fishing nets tangled round its flukes. The whale is suffering, and is also obstructing shipping lanes. Elsewhere an Elizabethan merchant ship is lying on the seabed off the coast of Aldeburgh. The wreck is finally starting to rot (possibly due to pollution/climate change?) and so must be brought up to the surface before too much damage is done.

Animal Centre

A range of animals from traditional tales are taken to the animal centre after suffering various injuries. The issue of their moral and emotional well-being often arises, for is it responsible of the animal centre to release the ‘bad’ animals if they might cause further harm to others in their community?

Animal Rescuers

A fire is sweeping across an island in the centre of a lake. Many rare and endangered animal species are at risk as the fire takes control. In terror, the animals flee to the mountains at one end of the island. The people who live and work on the island – some of whom have been killed in the fire – are also under threat…

The Search for Blackbeard’s Treasure

A team of expert archaeologists (think Indiana Jones, not the Time Team) are flown to a deserted Caribbean island in search of the buried treasure of Blackbeard, the notorious 18th century pirate. The treasure is well hidden (possibly in a cave deep under the island’s extinct volcano). The team will have to search the entire island and look for clues of pirate activity, whilst being careful to protect themselves from the island’s many dangerous animals.

The Great Fire of London

The chief fire officer of a London based Fire Station has asked the fire-fighters to contribute to a fire safety education brochure for children. This will be used alongside a new purpose built education centre on the Fire Station site.
Whilst builders are digging the foundations for the education centre - a discovery is found - a box - which has lain in the earth for over 300 years! (Incidentally, the fire station is not far from Pudding Lane)

Disaster Rescuers

In response to a major disaster an expert rapid-response team prepare to fly to the sight immediately. The team has a long and distinguished history of rescues - from the very small to the very large. The team have state-of-the-art equipment, machinery and vehicles.

Bradley’s Ltd - Repairers of Old Toys

Bradley’s Ltd-Repairers of old Toys are a company dedicated to the repair and preservation of toys. They have had many people from all walks of life commission them and have worked for the palace as an appointed company. They go back to 1886 where their founder Evelyn Bradley repaired the first broken toy…

Island Scientists

The uninhabited island of Pulau Nila is under threat from flooding due to global warming. Although explorers have been to the island, nobody really knows about the plant and animal life there. A group of top scientists from around the world have been asked to go to live on the island for one year and to record all the plant and animal life.

The Egyptian Tomb

Accompanying the famous Tutankhamen exhibition to London is a ‘sister’ exhibition of a recently discovered tomb of a noble family of the same period. A team of expert transporters – with a successful history of removing, transporting and returning objects of great value and historical importance - are commissioned to remove and transport the items to the exhibition and, afterwards, return them to the exact same position in the tomb.
