Kent mantle of the expert project

This project in Kent involves 22 schools from the north of the county. It runs from November 18th, 2009 until June 16th, 2010.

The Project timetable contains:

An Induction Day – November 18th, 2009
Demo Day 1. An in-school demonstration and seminar day for each network during the week of March 9-12, 2010
Training Day – March 16th, 2010
Demo Day 2. The second in-school demonstration and seminar day during the week of April 20 – 23, 2010
Demo Day 3. The third in-school demonstration and seminar day during the week of June 8 – 11, 2010
Project End and Dissemination Day – June 15th, 2010

National Mantle of the Expert Conference – Abergavenny, Wales – SOLD OUT

Monday November 2nd 2009
For the first time the national mantle of the expert conference will be hosted in Wales. This is an introductory conference with keynotes from Dr. Dorothy Heathcote and Luke Abbott. It will suit teachers, school leaders, senior managers and those with responsibility for curriculum development in primary schools. Based on practical classroom practice, there will be an emphasis on developing meaningful, engaging and challenging experiences for children’s learning.

Assessment for Learning

This paper, written by Mary James, outlines how formative assessment for learning is often confused with summative data collection and aims to make the distinction between the two clear and unequivocal.
“Assessment for Learning is part of everyday practice by students, teachers and peers that seeks, reflects upon and responds to information from dialogue, demonstration and observation in ways that enhance ongoing learning.”

News on Masters Degree in Mantle of the Expert

In collaboration with Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln, mantleoftheexpert.com has created a course for experienced practising teachers to study mantle of the expert to Masters Level. Titled: ‘MA Degree route to dramatic arts inquiry pedagogy (also known as Mantle of the Expert)’ the course will be directed and lead by Luke Abbott supported by a team of highly trained practising tutors and skilled users of mantle of the expert.
