New dates for weekend courses at Ringsfield Hall

New dates announced for weekend courses in mantle of the expert at Ringsfield Hall for 2011 and 2012.

These courses are suitable for both beginners and experienced users of the approach and provide a comprehensive introduction and consolidation in the drama and inquiry processes that make moe work effectively in the classroom.

Delegates will be involved in a series of practical workshops from Friday night ’til Sunday lunchtime led by internationally renowned drama teacher Luke Abbott.

Palestine moe teacher exchange project

This summer mantle of the expert.com in partnership with the Qattan Foundation will organising a teacher exchange programme for a group of Palestine teachers with the aim of establishing new practices in mantle of the expert. Working alongside teacher-coaches, trained by Dr Dorothy Heathcote and Luke Abbott, each teacher will meet a teacher-coach in Palestine during April. They will team-teach for a time in their own classrooms and then return in June for a weeklong placement in a partnership school in the UK.

moe study days at Bealings Primary School

Bealings School is a small village primary school in Suffolk who have been on the leading edge of curriculum and pedagogical innovation for many years. Trained by Luke Abbott in the use of the moe approach, Bealings has been described by Ofsted in recent inspections as an outstanding and unique school.

The Bealings study days are an opportunity to visit the school, watch mantle of the expert in action and to talk to the staff and children about the excitement and challenges of using the approach.

This year’s dates are 31st January 2011 and 15th June 2011.

Save Theatr Powys and Mpyt petition

You may know that Theatr Powys has had it’s funding withdrawn by the Arts Council of Wales threatening its 38 year excitence. Friends of TP have set up a petition with our Wales National Assembly Government.

Mark also reflects on his ongoing career as a secondary school drama teacher after 30 years in the profession. He refers to his many influences: the famous (Dorothy Heathcote and Andy Kempe to name but two) and those not so well-known.
