This conference on Professor Dorothy Heathcote’s dramatic-based system for learning is for all teachers, headteachers and others interested in innovative approaches to learning. The conference will feature a keynote address from Dr. Heathcote and practical workshop led by her and other national and international experts.

New reports on the use of moe in the classroom

This month sees the publication of three major reports with mantle-of-the-expert at the centre of the research they describe.

The West Midlands Mantle of the Expert Network

This recently established network, formed in association with Newman University College, Birmingham, exists to enable members to learn more about the mantle of the expert approach and to share their ideas and experiences in order to support teachers in their professional development.

Dorothy on YouTube

In 1971 BBC producer Ron Smedley made an Omnibus programme about using drama with young people. He called the film Three Looms Waiting and it featured the work of Dorothy Heathcote and her student Tom Stabler. What Smedley caught on film was remarkable and made Heathcote’s work famous around the world.

Heathcote Archive

In partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, mantleoftheexpert.com has started the lengthy process of digitising the Heathcote archive, including many Diplomas, B.Phils, MAs, PhD theses, articles and papers written by Heathcote and her students, as well as a vast library of video material from Professor Heathcote’s remarkable career in teaching spanning over 50 years.

Creative Classrooms Final Report
