With a wide-ranging review of the national curriculum in full flow and rapid (possibly irreversible) change happening across the whole education system there has never been a more pertinent time to ask: Does the curriculum have a future?

This day-long inquiry conference, suitable for school leaders, teachers, and advisers, will be an exciting opportunity to learn about the current state of the government's review and the possible shape and scope of the new curriculum. It will also provide a valuable forum for professional discussion on the challenges and opportunities of the new curriculum and school restructuring.

It is difficult to grasp how the 14-year-old girl who entered a Yorkshire woollen mill to work in 1940 could become a key international figure in the world of education and drama and yet by the age of 24 she had become a lecturer at the Newcastle-upon-Tyne campus of Durham University, beginning a career that was to span 60 years...

In the past few years much has changed on the educational stage in the UK and internationally. Drama for learning methods as well as the adoption of Mantle of the Expert systems in many learning contexts is becoming more widespread in the UK and in several other countries. We are therefore initiating a Quality Mark with regard to the work of Mantle of the Expert specifically in schools where the use of the system is significant and perhaps affecting whole school policy in curriculum structures and pedagogy.
We are offering schools using mantle of the expert the opportunity to apply and be awarded the QM for a period of three years if they can evidence and comply with the selected criteria they wish to address concerning the use and development of MoE practices [...]
